Silent Hill es un videojuego de survival horror desarrollado por Team Silent y publicado por Konami en 1999 para la Sony PlayStation. Es el primer juego en la serie del mismo nombre que trata sobre un misterioso pueblo llamado Silent Hill, y ha sido continuado por varias secuelas, además de haber sido adaptado al cine.

El título se centra en Harry Mason mientras busca a su hija, Cheryl, quien ha desaparecido tras un accidente de auto que dejó a Harry inconsciente. El protagonista se encuentra en Silent Hill, un pueblo que aparece abandonado y rodeado de niebla, con nieve (que en realidad es ceniza) fuera de temporada, lleno de monstruos, y siendo invadido por el «Otro Mundo», una oscuridad que torna las estructuras del pueblo en una visión infernal. Mientras Harry recorre el pueblo, empieza a descubrir la historia de Silent Hill y un ritual que un culto lleva a cabo para traer a un dios a la tierra.
